Welcome Here Project
We would like to share with our local community a very special partnership we’ve embarked on this year with The Welcome Here Project, who create and promote environments that are visibly welcoming and inclusive of Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) communities.
The Welcome Here Project is the new Safe Place Project, which started in 1998 in response to high levels of street based violence directed at LGBTIQ people. While incidences of street-based violence has reduced since the beginning of the project, LGBTQ people continue to experience violence at higher rates.
We would like to welcome all LGBTIQ people to Toombul today, tomorrow and any day in the future.
